CHAMBER MUSIC PROJECT
Ensemble Urbane takes chamber music out of the concert hall.

The Ensemble Urbane Chamber Music Project was founded in Melbourne in 2010 with the intent to reach a new audience for classical music and break away from conventional perceptions of the genre.

It presents programs that fuse ancient and new music in a relaxed environment.
Classical masterpieces presented in an approachable context.
Concerts are designed to appeal to both chamber music enthusiasts and those who are hearing classical music for the first time.
Programs are eclectic, featuring iconic works of traditional classical chamber music repertoire blended with contemporary works and new commissions.

Program highlights have included Beethoven's Septet, Schubert's Octet, Brahms Sextets, the concert version of Stravinsky’s A Soldier’s Tale, Ensemble Urbane’s own commission “The Legend Of Nintendo” by Dave Paterson, and solo blue grass fiddle performances.
Concert line ups have combined some of the finest performers from the Australian classical music scene with performers from a broad range of genres and backgrounds.

Ensembles have featured stars of Australia’s string scene such as Cameron Hill, Blair Harris, Chris Cartlidge, Francesca Hiew, Sarah Curro, Jenny Khafagi, Kristian Winther, Thibaud Hobba and Kirsty Hilton.
Collaborating artists have included cabaret artist Tommy Bradson, singer Lotte Betts-Dean, former Australian Ballet principal Daniel Gaudiello, contemporary/multi genre violinist Xani Kolac, bluegrass/jazz fiddler Luke Moller and visual artists Eleanor Butt, Lisa Lloyd and Tuvya Day.
Venues have included art galleries and bars.
